ICCR Scholarship Scheme Announcement for AY 2026-2027

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, is pleased to announce the following Scholarship Schemes for Ghanaians for FY 2026–2027.

  1. India – Africa Maitri Scholarship Scheme for African Countries

  2. Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship Scheme

These scholarships provide an excellent opportunity for Ghanaian students to pursue Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programmes in 131 reputed Indian Universities and Institutes across a wide range of disciplines.

This Scholarship Scheme reflects India’s continued commitment to strengthening educational and cultural ties with Africa and supporting the academic aspirations of Ghanaian students.

I. Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship Scheme (A1209)

100 slots Globally as per mentioned below:

(i) 75 slots to pursue studies in Indian Culture including Dance and Music, Theatre, performing art, Sculpture, Indian Language, Indian Cuisine etc. with restriction of 10 slots to each country.

(ii) 25 slots to pursue one year diploma course in Yoga in the following 4 Institutes with the restriction of maximum 2 slots to each country:

a) Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Uttarakhand

b) Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavala, and Maharashtra

c) Moraji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi

d) Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bangalore

· Slots would be offered on first- cum – first serve basis

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides comprehensive support, including:

This financial support ensures that selected students can focus fully on their academic and professional development in India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be Ghanaian nationals and should have passport with a minimum validity of two years as 1 July 2026.
  • The minimum age for any level of courses is 18 years (as on 01 July 2026).
  • The maximum age for UG, PG, Certificate and Diploma level courses is 35 years (as on 01 July 2026).
  • The upper age limit for PhD applicants is 40 years.
  • No upper age limit for courses in Hindi, Sanskrit, any of the Indian performing arts courses (such as Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Vocal/Instrumental music, etc.) unless prescribed by the concerned institution.
  • Applicants may be required to submit a 500-word essay in English to demonstrate language proficiency. Submission of TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent English proficiency scores is also accepted.
  • No admission is provided to foreign students of B.Tech courses in the IITs.
  • Applicants must note that no scholarships are provided to study courses in the fields of Medical Science, Para-medical courses like Nursing, Physiotherapy, anaesthesia, Lab technicians, etc., Integrated courses such as BALLB (5 Years), B.Sc. & M.Sc. (5 Years) etc.
  • Courses at the levels of UG, PG and Ph.D. levels in the disciplines of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy are provided under the AYUSH Scholarship Schemes, which will be publicized separately later in the year.

Application Process

Key application guidelines:

  • Only applications submitted through the A2A portal will be considered. No submissions are required in-person, via email or by post.
  • Applicants may select up to five universities/institutes in order of preference.
  • Candidates opting for admission in science/engineering UG level courses may ensure that they have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the final/Senior High School level (Standard XII)
  • Candidates opting for admission in science courses with biology as a major subject may ensure that they have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry at the final/ Senior High School level (Standard XII)
  • Applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria, academic requirements, and course details on the respective university websites before applying.
  • Applicants opting for admission in MBA courses may note that a GMAT score is mandatory in some of the Universities/Institutions.
  • All supporting documents must be submitted in English or accompanied by certified English translations.
  • Applicants opting to pursue performing arts courses are required to upload the latest video/YouTube link of their performance.

Medical Fitness

  • Student must be sound in physical and mental health, not suffering from any chronic contagious/non-communicable diseases, having undergone mandatory and obligatory vaccinations, etc.
  • The selected student must upload on the A2A Portal his/her Medical Fitness Certificate with test reports/vaccinations issued by a registered doctor in a reputed hospital/Lab in the country or as prescribed by the Indian Mission in the country on the A2A portal.
  • The student must note that the Indian Mission would satisfy itself about the medical fitness provided by the student and has the discretion to accept or reject the same without assigning any reason. The student must follow the instructions and guidance of the Indian Mission, if any, to prove his/her medical fitness.
  • Student must note that Universities/Institutions also conduct health check-ups upon joining of the course and in case the student is not found medically fit by the University/Institution, student has to go back to his/her country on his/her own expenses and required to refund expenses incurred for him/her by the Indian Mission or ICCR, such as air-ticket, visa expenses, any allowances paid in India etc.

Things to Note

  • Usage/uploading of false information or documents (passport number, passport copies, transcripts etc) will result in legal action and cancellation of admission.
  • Applicants who will secure admission to Undergraduate courses will be required to present their WASSCE checker at the time of interview.
  • Applicants who will secure admission to Post-graduate and PhD courses will be required to present their original certificates/degrees at the time of interview.
  • No requests for change of course/university/city will be entertained at the time of interview.
