International Kite Festival & Makar Sankranti Celebrations

The Gujarati Association of Ghana, in collaboration with the High Commission of India, Accra joyfully celebrated the International Kite Festival at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.

Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into Capricorn and signifies the end of winter and the beginning of longer, brighter days. Celebrated across India in different forms, it is a festival of gratitude, harvest, renewal, and togetherness. Kite flying symbolizes freedom, hope, and the joy of welcoming positive change.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the Indian community and friends of India filling the skies with colorful kites and the atmosphere with festive cheer. Traditional music, cultural warmth, and shared celebrations reflected the vibrant spirit of India far from home.

The occasion was graced by High Commissioner Shri Manish Gupta, along with officials of the High Commission of India.

Such celebrations not only bring the Indian community together but also serve as a bridge of cultural exchange, showcasing India’s traditions and values to friends and partners in Ghana.
